Special Interest Group (SIG) on EVs in Nervous System (EViNS)

Vision and Goal

EViNS aims to provide an efficient and inclusive framework to promote knowledge exchange on the biology, function, and potential clinical application of EVs in the nervous system, which is necessary to address key challenges and to develop research excellence at the interface of EV research and neuroscience.

The prospective goal of EViNS is to foster the collective development of productive activities such as working groups and to build partnerships with societies for neuroscience and related fields as well.

We promote diversity and young researchers.

Symposia and joint-sessions with neuroscience societies

Past activities

  • ISEV’s 1st Symposium on EVs in Nervous Systems, Rome (Italy), December 2023, Rome (Italy),successfully brought together the community at large to discuss research progress and scientific challenges on several aspects of EV biogenesis, roles and applications (as biomarkers or therapeutics) in healthy or diseased nervous systems. During two and a half days, more than 200 participants from around the globe shared new data and prospective views, learnt from each other, and enjoyed networking in a high-profile conference (see the program).

This first-of-its-kind symposium was also the first meeting of the members of the ISEV Special Interest Group on EVs in Nervous System (SIG EViNS), which was supported by experts beyond the EV community and by leadership of the European Society for Neurochemistry & German Neuroscience Society. This added depth to discussions on how SIG EViNS can provide the most efficient and inclusive framework to promote knowledge exchange and discoveries on the biology, function, and potential clinical application of EVs in the nervous system.

The organization and success of the Symposium would not have been possible without the fantastic contribution of participants and help of EViNS core group members. The SIG EViNS met at ISEV2024 in Melbourne (Satellite meeting and General Assembly) and approved the development of the activities that are summarized below.
