ISEV is the Largest Community of Extracellular Vesicle Researchers in the WorldWe are the leading professional society for researchers and scientists involved in the study of extracellularly secreted vesicles (EVs, including exosomes and other types of vesicles). ISEV 's nearly 2,000 members enjoy great benefits, including discounted publishing rates in Journal of Extracellular Vesicles and Journal of Extracellular Biology and reduced registration to the ISEV Annual Meeting. Beware of email scams
Scammers frequently contact affiliates of ISEV and other societies, especially in the run-up to the annual meeting and other meetings. These emails are often sent from a generic email address (e.g., a gmail account) and impersonate an ISEV officer. The emails typically give few details initially ("please contact me about an urgent opportunity" or "I need your help with a pressing matter") but, upon reply, ask for money.
Please do not respond to these messages. Be assured that no ISEV officer will reach out personally to request money, and that no ISEV officer will ask for any form of assistance without a clear explanation. Unfortunately, it is difficult to combat these scams. Beyond ignoring them, you can block the email address, report the abuse to your administrator, or, in the case of specific email platforms, report the email. For example, according to Google: "To report a scam email to Google in Gmail, open the suspicious email, click the three dots in the top right corner, and select "Report phishing" - this will alert Google about the potential scam and help them take action against the sender."
